Benefits of Carrots

Carrot is a highly nutritious and medicinal root vegetable, rich in enzymes, vitamins and minerals essential to provide complete nutrition to the body. Research indicates that 100 gram of carrot contains 7.6 gram of carbohydrate, 0.6 gram of protein, 0.3 gram of fat, 3.62 milligram of beta-carotene, 30 milligram of calcium and 0.6 milligram of iron. Carrots are also excellent sources of fiber, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B6, vitamin C, vitamin K, potassium, thiamine, and biotin.

Apart from the nutritional value, carrots also have health benefits. Carrots are considered good for the spleen, stomach, and kidneys. Carrots also improve impotence, and sexual dysfunction. The biggest health benefit of carrot is however its help in maintaining eyesight and checking night blindness. Carrots are also a cure for long term cough.

Recent research indicates that carrots have anti-cancer properties, and an appropriate amount of carrot per day would prevent cancer. A regular intake of carrot also ensures good cell growth, strong immunity system and protection against mascular degeneration.
